Liposuction as a surgical technique used to eliminate fat deposits
The best surgical technique to forever get rid of fat deposited in your body.
Liposuction, also known as liposculpture, is currently the only effective method available to permanently eliminate and eradicate adipose tissue located in certain areas of the body, including the cheeks and neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, buttocks , hips and thighs. It is very important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss method, but rather a procedure to remodel and remove those stubborn areas that cannot be eradicated from our body, even after daily exercise and diets.
Dr. Amar has developed a safe, simple and noninvasive technique, influenced by the two great names in the history of liposuction. The influence of the two main mentors (Dr. Illouz, inventor of liposuction, and Dr Jeff Klein, inventor of “lipo tumescent” in 1985) as well as his experience as a professional surgeon has made him one of the greatest specialists in liposuction.
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction (or liposcupture) consists essentially of the aspiration of fat by introducing a cannula connected to a vacuum machine. Only minimal incisions are required, so the scars are almost imperceptible.
This procedure reshapes the contour of the body by removing the adipocyte fat cells in the areas where they have accumulated. Liposuction (or liposcupture ) is not a weapon against obesity but a method to combat localized accumulations of fat that diet and exercise can not remove.
Liposuction (or liposuction) is not a weapon against obesity, but a method to combat localized accumulations of fat that diets and exercise can not remove.
It is a very effective technique to provide a new body contour with minimal scarring. The results can be permanent, as long as you maintain a proper diet and exercise regularly.
What type of anesthesia is used during surgery?
Liposuction (or liposculpture) is ambulatory and is usually performed under local anesthesia using intravenous sedation, Dr. Roger Amar or the present anesthetist will assess the patient to apply different techniques depending on each case.
Is Liposuction right for me?
The best candidates for liposuction (or liposculpture) are those who are close to their ideal weight and have a clear accumulation of fat in certain areas distorting their body’s silhouette. Liposuction brings harmony to this silhouette adapting it to your weight, height and body build. These located fat deposits are usually genetically predisposed, making it very difficult to remove them through diet or exercise. Liposuction is therefore a great way to combat this problem. Liposuction (or liposculpture) can be performed at any age, although better results are found in younger patients as the skin still retains enough elasticity to readjust to the new contour after surgery. If your skin remains firm (thick, tense, elastic, etc. …) the results will be much more appreciable, then if you had sagging skin.
Different liposuction (or liposculpture) options available at Amar Clinic:
Does the fat accumulated in your upper arms upset you? Has the skin surrounding your upper arms lost its elasticity? In that case, arm liposuction may offer the solution to once again enjoy the contour your upper arms once had, by reducing their perimeter, improving their appearance, thus making it easier to use your appropriate size of clothing. It consists of a combination of two liposuction techniques with which we can efficiently extract more excess fat.
The accumulation of fat in the legs does not only influence our body aesthetically, but it also affects the health of the person as it creates inflammation, pain, bloating, fluid retention, irritation such as crotch chafing and may even cause interference with walking. Liposuction in the legs can remove the excess volume in these areas, removing any unwanted fat by inserting a small tube called a cannula through incisions around the knees or inner thighs, achieving better definition, whilst helping to improve the shape of the buttocks. Its is not posible to withdraw all the entire thigh, depending on the fattiest area, the inner thighs or outer thighs will be involved.
It is important to know that this procedure does not eliminate cellulite, although in some cases it can improve its appearance. Also, the procedure can simultaneously work on the knees and ankles.
In both men and women, the abdomen frequently is one of the areas of the body where the most fat accumulates and is usually the most resistant to diet and exercise, consequently, abdominal liposuction is the most popular of its kind. The technique and type of liposuction used will be determined beforehand in a personal consultation with your Plastic Surgeon.
With local liposuction subcutaneous fat can be removed in order to define the abdominal area. It is necessary to follow postoperative instructions and use a compression girdle for several weeks in order to achieve optimum results.
Liposuction can also definitively remove the fat located in this particular area. It is a technique used frequently in men and women to remove accumulated fat in the submental region, chin or mandibular ridge, in order to slim the face and define facial contours.
As the area to be treated is small, the liposuction is very simple to perform. The best candidates for this surgery are young people with good skin quality.
Liposuction in the ankles and calves:
The search for harmony in the legs and ankles has been a main concern in the field of cosmetic surgery. This little intervention is designed to eliminate the uncomfortable accumulation of fat that can end up in this difficult area, since so many women feel so strongly affected aesthically and physically.
Each and every person’s body shape depends mainly on their genes. The accumulation of fat in areas of the body is also hereditary, many women tend to accumulate large amounts of excess fat in the buttocks, hips, abdomen, legs, etc., and also in other areas like the ankles.
Dr Amar does not recommend liposuccon using ultrasound, since it only facilitates the surgeon’s work, and presents many risks, including internal burns.
Dr Amar uses the technique called “pneumatic liposuction” with a device called “Lipomatic” which presents the enormous advantage of providing a low risk procedure, since it automatically ceases by itself, whenever extracted from the fat (en français en dehors du graisseux plan).
Since 1985, Dr Amar has performed all liposuction procedures under local anesthesia and sedation, using the tumesciente liposuction technique.
